Hello,

Today the Arizona Daily Star published my op-ed on early childhood education.  As a retired educator, I have witnessed the importance early childhood education plays in the lives of students. In the Spring of 2021 the Pima County Board of Supervisors created the Pima Early Education Program scholarships (PEEPs).

United States Sen. Edward Markey once said that “education is not only a ladder of opportunity, but it is also an investment in our future.” He could have been talking about the Pima Early Education Program scholarships (PEEPs) when he made that statement.

More information about PEEPs

The eligibility framework is designed to support families with 3- or 4-year-old children (and 5-year-olds not in kindergarten) with a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
